The Afghan-Tajik Basin is located in the northern section of Afghanistan near the Turkmenistan border and near the city of Mazar-e-Sharif. Over the past few decades, in northern Afghanistan, there has been very little exploration. However, recent gravity and magnetic data from German, Russian, and United States surveys have located more than sixty potential structures wholly or partially contained in the multiple blocks of the Afghan-Tajik Basin.
