Dr Neamat Nojumi
Political Economist

Dr. Neamat Nojumi is the chairman of International Cooperation Trust (ICT) and has over twenty years of executive policy analysis on state-building, and conflict transformation. He is a political economist affiliated with George Mason University and the American Military University. He worked as a Senior Advisor for government and non-government organizations in the United States, Europe and South and Central Asia, including Afghanistan. He has recently facilitated a global dialogue for A Future Peaceful Afghanistan participated by dozens institutions and internationally respected figures. Nojumi is the author of number of books, policy papers and articles, including After Taliban: Life and Security in Rural Afghanistan (2009) and The Rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan, Mess Mobilization, Civil War and the Future of the Region (2002). Nojumi’s current research is on The Economics of Political Stability in Afghanistan’s Regions (forthcoming). He obtained a BA from Yale University and UHART, Master of Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University and PhD from George Mason University. He worked at Harvard University’s Law School as a research fellow studying ‘Legal Traditions and Constitutional Practices’ in developing countries. Nojumi is the recipient of numerous awards from non-governmental and governmental institutions. He received George Mason University’s nomination to the Carnegie International Peace Award and he also received an honorary award from the American Rotary Club for his dedication to the World Health Organization and UNICEF programs aimed to eradicate polio worldwide.
